About Chris

Chris began his legal career as a law clerk to District Judge Raymond J. Dearie in the Eastern District of New York.  He then worked as an associate in the New York City office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP where his practice focused on financial litigation.  Chris left the firm to serve as a law clerk to Circuit Judge Joseph M. McLaughlin of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals before joining Rosen Law Firm LLC in Charleston where he practiced primarily in the areas of family law and plaintiff-side medical malpractice and personal injury.  Chris is the founder and sole member of Chris Paton LLC.   

Chris graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. John's University School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review, in 2005.  He earned his B.A. from New York University in 1997.   

Chris is licensed to practice in South Carolina, and in federal court before the United States District Courts for the District of South Carolina and the Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of New York.   Chris is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, the Charleston County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Association for Justice. Chris served as Chair of the Family Law Section Council of the South Carolina Bar in 2019-2020.
